*seeing ppl say those who didnt like the ending failed to grasp it* lmao okay sure. sure its 'realistic' to love someone enough to 'let go' and never talk to them ever again... like shut up its not even realistic for them idk what show u were watching, they were literally crying holding each other not even wanting to let go and ur telling me they 'loved each so much' they decided to drop each other out of their lives and their friends. i do not want to live in ur reality if thats realistic
all of this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i don’t even know what to add because you said it all. they were literally pulled apart by the writer for her “first love doesn’t last” agenda, not because their feelings had changed. they had one fight born out of missing each other and feeling like they were losing each other, and the circumstances leading up to it were far-fatched and dependent on putting them at their lowest point. and they weren’t shown to become happier after the break-up: they were shown suffering while doing nothing to stop suffering, a passivity that would never be necessary if they weren’t going to reconcile the moment they talk properly. i think this might be the reason the writer doesn’t let them interact after the break-up: if she let them talk, they’d make up as lovers. the only way to prevent this is to not let them talk at all, leaving them as some star-crossed couple who dream of each other forever.
when i watch that hug, i see two people with no walls between them, no pride, no resentment, no misunderstanding. just two people who hate this narrative equally and want to hold on to each other with their entire hearts. if they had stopped loving each other, they wouldn’t cry or hold each other or take care of each other. it’s not the other hurting them, but the story they’re forced to act out. even the camera can’t show them letting go of each other, as if incapable of ignoring the truth.
Did you worry about it some more? About our relationship, I mean.

everyday i reread the same five posts dissecting how the ending was character assassination to soothe the soul — please keep writing them the only thing keeping me tethered to this mortal realm are these analyses and the fix it fics.

fake relationship is such a good trope. they have to act in love and they are in love but they think the other isn’t in love. oscar. pulitzer. nobel prize

i miss coming to your inbox and discussing where 2521 was going and u had so many thoughtful meta and i was so sure it was gonna go the way u were predicting... and i thought me being cynical would work in my favor so it would prove me wrong but nope. i cant believe how salty i still am. i want to so badly rewatch the drama but knowing how it ends i cant. i just wanna see them growing with each other again.
that’s so sweet of you to say 🥺
i expected the best because we were continiously being shown the best, until the writer abandoned all writing logic and failed her own show. it’s a huge waste on her part, but i think we did gain something she didn’t intend for us to gain.
the heedo and yijin we met would have been very different without the additions of the actors, who made them into the characters we love. if the writer had succeeded in her intentions, we wouldn’t have this amazing love story or these incredible characters, especially yijin, who really came alive through joohyuk’s creative vision.
so although i can’t rewatch the show either, i still feel incredibly lucky. i feel like i ran into a burning house and rescued something precious. i feel like if we could have had one happy ending before, we can now have thousands of happy endings all at once.
i wish this show had been wonderful from start to finish, a gift someone places in our hands. but if we didn’t have to fight for these characters, we wouldn’t feel so intensely about them a whole month later. i think there’s something good in that, in our love for baekdo being tested and proven unbreakable.
